Its been a while since I have come across a Utility app that I really liked, that is until I found out about AppZapper. Most of the time when you install Applications on your mac it’s an easy drag and drop procedure, but when it comes to deleting programs Mac OS X has a funny way of leaving the remnants of that Application’s framework lingering around in your systems internals.
I used to solve this problem by first dragging the application to the trash, then doing a spotlight search for all related items to that application, also putting those in the trash. AppZapper has automated this process entirely, but they do it in style, and it makes deleting programs fun. Since installing AppZapper I have found myself occasionally looking for programs I don’t use anymore just so I can have the pleasure of using Appzapper. AppZapper almost reminds be of the uninstall control panel from windows in terms of functionality but it’s way cooler than anything Microsoft could ever cook up. One of the things that makes AppZapper fun, is the sound effects(which can be turned off) that play when you “Zap” an App. I used to be wary of installing random applications on my mac for fear of them leaving orphaned files all over the place, but with AppZapper, my mind is at ease.
I recommend AppZapper as an essential upkeep utility for all macintosh computers, It is an invaluable tool that I use everyday. For more information visit the official AppZapper website.
